Understanding the Different Types of Diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetes
14 May, 2023In today's blog, we're going to discuss the three main types of diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks its own insulin-producing cells, making it difficult to regulate blood sugar. On the other hand, Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin, causing high blood sugar levels. Gestational diabetes is unique to pregnant women and typically resolves after childbirth, but it does increase the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later in life. It's essential to understand these differences in order to manage and treat diabetes effectively.
